A Shot Apart is the photoblog of Nick Schaden. He resides in New York City, by day working in fashion and technology, by night and on weekends shooting up NYC and beyond with his DSLR.
Night shots predominate in many forms, from handheld candid shots to timed exposure landscape shots on a tripod. Daytime shots pop up occasionally, albeit generally in black and white and of a more abstract nature.
The abstract and colorful compositions of Mark Rothko, the dark, forboding imagery of David Lynch, the black, anti-formalist fashion designs of Yohji Yamamoto, the super wide landscapes of Andreas Gursky, the super saturated colors of Christopher Doyle.
As Nick is an entirely self taught photographer, online feedback to the site serves as a great learning tool and motivator. Commentary on all work, whether positive or negative, is greatly encouraged.
